For this piece, I decided to take the artwork of Hajime Isayama's Armoured Titan from Attack on Titan and produce it in a cartoon style of my own. To achieve this, I took reference images of the titan from manga panels and used them as a guideline to produce a cartoon or caricature outline of the Armoured Titan; this was achieved via the use of sharp lines angular rather than the smooth flowing ones ween within the anime and manga. From this, I then used basic cel-shading to develop the armour and the muscle layers underneath; this was achieved via blending different markers together and originating from a cool tonal base layer. Once this was complete, I added structural lines to add more depth and precision and then used a glowing yellow outline to portray the glow of the titans once they have shifted.
I plan on producing another one of these cartoony titans but in a digital format similar to the Grisha Yeager Founding Titan which I produced the other day.
